Construction Diploma Level 2
The Construction Diploma Level 2 involves a mix of practical and theory elements, all undertaken at the Training Centre. At the end of the course, there are three practical assignments along with a knowledge test. Successful candidates can then proceed to the NVQ Diploma Level 2 programme where they will be assessed in the workplace.
Candidate criteria
This course is suitable for candidates aged 16+ who have less than three years’ work experience in roof tiling and / or slating.
Ideally candidates should be working in the roofing industry, however, for those candidates who are not in full-time employment, they must be able to get work experience from time to time with an employer who would consider employing them after successful completion of the course.
To begin the course, we require all candidates to take a Keys Skills test for numeracy and literacy prior to enrolment at the Centre.
Course attendance
Students are required to attend 3 days a week – Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays – over a 36-week period.
Course materials
As the courses are practical, you need to wear suitable work clothing and provide your own safety boots. We will provide all necessary tools, materials and further safety clothing and equipment for use at the Training Centre. Tea and coffee making facilities are available at the Centre, but you will need to bring your own lunch.
Funding
The diploma course is currently fully-funded for 16-18 year olds, and part-funded for 19+ year olds, requiring an employer contribution.
There may be some Adult Learning Response funding available.
