Heritage Skills NVQ Diploma Level 3 Specialist Apprenticeship Programme in Roofing
This 30-day course develops skills and experience working with heritage roofing materials leading to an NVQ Diploma Level 3 qualification, awarded by CSkills. The Heritage Specialist Apprenticeship Programme is endorsed by English Heritage.

Candidate criteria
Candidates need to have experience and in-depth knowledge of using traditional roofing materials.
Course attendance
Candidates are expected to attend 2 days per week (Thursdays and Fridays) for 15 weeks. This course is taught at our Training Centre.

Commencing on Thursday 17th November 2011
Commencing on Thursday 19th January 2012
Course elements
The Heritage SAP covers the following elements: clay tiling; natural random-sized slating; stone slating; the use of lime mortar.
The course also includes field trips to heritage sites. Recent trips included the Weald & Downland Open Air Museum, Singleton, West Sussex; local towns with buildings of historic interest; Trevillett slate quarry in Cornwall.

Course materials
As the courses are practical, you need to wear suitable work clothing and provide your own safety boots. We will provide all necessary tools, materials and further safety clothing and equipment for use at the Training Centre. Tea and coffee making facilities are available at the Centre, but you will need to bring your own lunch. We also advise candidates to bring a digital camera to record their work.

Funding is available for candidates who are registered with CSkills.
