NVQ Diploma Level 3 Specialist Up-skilling Programme (SUP) in Roofing
The course is part funded for companies registered with CITB
The programme is suitable for roofers with several years’ experience who would benefit from a Heritage qualification. The course is a combination instruction at the training centre, followed by on-site assessments (all within a 1-year framework), leading to the achievement of a Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Heritage Roofing qualification.
Candidates need to have experience and in-depth knowledge of using traditional roofing materials. They will be profiled to determine if they have sufficient experience and knowledge to undertake the SUP course. If more in-depth training is required, the candidate will be recommended to undertake the Heritage SAP.
Candidates are expected to attend 2 days per week (Thursdays and Fridays) for up to 13 days at the Training Centre, followed by on-site assessments (all within a 1-year framework).
The Heritage SUP covers the following elements: clay tiling; natural random-sized slating; stone slating; the use of lime mortar and torching.
As the course is practical, you will need to wear suitable work clothing and provide your own safety boots. We will provide all necessary tools, materials and further safety clothing and equipment for use at the Training Centre. Tea and coffee making facilities are available at the Centre, but you will need to bring your own lunch. We also advise candidates to bring a digital camera to record their work.
