The Bootcamps are open to all who are aged 19+, live or work in West Sussex and have very little or no roofing experience.
Training will cover the basics for Interlocking Tiling, Plain Tiling and Natural Slating. Attendees will work on roofing rigs at the Centre, learning how to fit the roof underlay, set out the battens for the material to be used, lay the materials and may include some mortar work.
This course will run over 4 weeks, 2 days per week, at the end of which attendees should have a basic knowledge of double lap and single lap principles.
Further progression following a job offer and 18 months working in the roofing industry could lead to the achievement of a Level 2 National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) in Roof Slating and Tiling via On-Site Assessment.
We may be able to give some work experience with our contracting company, First Roof Ltd and with the database of roofing contractors we have, may be able to get some further work experience opportunities, which could lead to a job offer.
All attendees must wear their own safety boots, all other PPE, tools and materials will be provided.
Centre hours will be 8:30am to 4pm. There are tea and coffee making facilities at the Centre, as well as a microwave and fridge. Attendees should bring a packed lunch, although there is large Tesco nearby.
Littlehampton Train Station is a 15 minute walk from the Training Centre. There is free parking at the Centre.
